Stop Perspiration - 5 Tips to Eliminate Excessive Sweating

December 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Stop Sweating
Jane Griffin asked:

How does anyone begin to eliminate excessive sweat? The first step, is to admit to yourself, that there is a problem you haven’t been able to solve, yet.

You know if, “over-perspiration” has been causing embarrassment and humiliation in your life.

It is no laughing matter, when you are out on a date with someone you really want to impress and you end up calling the evening short on some flimsy pretext, because your clothes are wet, from too much sweating.

Have you had to go home from work and change clothes, after a meeting, because you could not stop sweating?

I used to have to wear very dark clothes, with padding under my armpits, and pray, my sweat glands would behave themselves.

I used to try every major brand, of antiperspirants, hoping to find the one that would work the best, for me.

Gone, were those evenings, I used to go out with my girlfriends to a bar, and felt safe enough to dance.

Here are some tips I found, that will help you eliminate excessive sweating, and stop perspiration from running your life.

Tip #1.

Develop a mindset. Your condition is not going to ruin your life. You will not allow, “excessive sweating”, to drown you in sorrow, any longer

It is important, that you realize, you are going to make changes in your life, that will teach your sweat glands to behave.

Tip #2.

Begin an exercise program, that gives your sweat glands a better reason, of what you should perspire over.

Tip #3.

You generally have an idea already, about what triggers your sweating episodes. If you can prepare yourself before hand, focus on staying cool and dry. It works, so be more prepared.

Tip #4.

If you are not doing so already, begin drinking more water, to help your cooling system run better.

Tip #5.

If you are a coffee drinker, or drink sodas with caffeine in them, begin reducing your caffeine intake. Caffeine and excessive sweating, seem to go together.

Finding the right method, to stop perspiration from always running in high gear, is trial and error. What may work for you, won’t, necessarily work with someone else.

I finally found a method that works for me. It delivered on it’s claim, so I left a link to the site at the bottom of this article, if you want to know more about it. Maybe, it will work for you too.

Remember, you can’t stop perspiration problems by ignoring the issue. Whatever action you decide to take, stay on course.

Night Sweats and Medications

December 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Stop Sweating
Kurt Tompkins asked:

Night sweats from medications is more common than one would think. This article will list medications that cause sweating. In order for us to understand where the sweating is coming from, we should understand that medications cause night sweats as well as diseases and other natural changes. There are several different reasons for the sweating as related to drugs but we will not deeply analyze that issue.

Many medications can not be removed from our daily requirements and often times we can’t add any other drugs to get relief. Take for example women that are dealing with breast cancer and have to deal with menopause at the same time. There are very few options for women when it comes to taking night sweat prevention medicines. The options that are available can increase the chances of cancer reoccurring. There is hardly anything that they can do internally to find relief from night sweats; they must look for other options.

With some medications confusion in the natural cooling system of our body will occur. Our temperature regulation system is unable to stabilize our body and keep it a constant temperature. At times we are just fine and then other times we are getting hot for unknown reasons thus developing night sweats. The fluctuation makes the sleeping environment unstable and difficult to maintain healthy sleep.

Located below you will see several medications listed that will cause night sweats. Each drug can cause night sweats or extreme sweating. Some of these medications list fever as a symptom, some come right out and say night sweats. All of these are doing the same thing; they are making people sweat at night.

There are ways to relieve yourself of night sweats, if you can keep your body cool during the night you will be able to stop sweating and start sleeping comfortably. The objective is to keep your body cooler when it needs the cooling boost. In order to do this you must either cool your room, sleep with less covering and a fan, or use a fan designed specifically for cooling your body while sleeping.

A special fan that can generate a light breeze between your sheets will be more effective than lowering your thermostat by six to eight degrees. A system like this will generate a light breeze that will travel between your sheets along your body and push the hot air out of your bed. It will also eliminate the heat that has been building-up within your bed and keep you body cool.
This type of cooling system will also benefit you in the following ways.

1) Lower air conditioning bills.
2) Rapid reaction time, with the fan speed controller right under your pillow
3) Can be directed at a single user
4) Cools your body and your bed

The extra body heat that you generate during the night, will be quickly moved out from between your sheets. This simple breeze will keep your body from ever reaching the point at which you start to sweat. This is the most effective method of dealing with night sweats when you look at it from a thermal dynamics point of view.

Sweating at night can be controlled once you understand the mechanics of sweating. It is also imperative that you know the origin of the problem. If you are sweating due to a medical condition, a medication, a natural change, or if you are just a hot sleeper, you should know why you are sweating. Once you understand why you are sweating then you will be able to make the necessary changes needed to start sleeping and stop sweating.

The following is a short list of medications that are known to cause night sweats.

Accupril
Accutane
Altace
Ambien
Amnesteem
Anzemet
Arava
Aricept
Aromasin
Avinza
Bextra
Black Cohosh
Biaxin-xl
Cozaar

Get Control Of Hot Flashes With These 8 Simple Tips

December 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Control Perspiration
Linda Bruton asked:

In the U.S., there are about 50 million women who are in their menopausal stage. Eighty percent of these women are hot flashes sufferers. Though hot flashes in themselves are harmless, they can become extremely uncomfortable. That’s why most menopausal women spend a lot of effort trying to find effective control of hot flashes.

Hot flashes may occur any time. They can occur as a mild warm feeling or intensified heat which spreads throughout the upper part of the body to the face. During a hot flash, the skin often appears blotchy and red. Hot flashes also increase perspiration, cause a rapid heartbeat, and finally chills as they wind down.

One of the most effective ways to get control of hot flashes is with some changes in lifestyle plus appropriate natural remedies.

Here are some simple methods to control hot flashes that work for most women:

1. Stay away from stimulants such as alcohol, spicy foods, and caffeine. These can trigger hot flashes. Spicy foods are a major trigger of hot flashes. Excess caffeine can act as a diuretic, which can cause magnesium and calcium loss. These minerals are very important for bone building as well as helping women to stay calm. It is advisable to drink no more than one cup of coffee a day. An herbal tea is much better if you are trying to get total control of hot flashes.

2. Avoid foods that contain high amounts of sugar or are acidic. These foods stimulate mood swings. Acidic foods cause nausea especially when you eat them a lot.

3. Stay calm, eat a balanced diet, and get plenty of exercise. Take ten deep breaths after you wake up in the morning. You might be surprised at how effective this is. Eat three small meals a day and occassional healthy snacks in between. Above all, get plenty of rest.

4. Take one of the herbal supplements that have been shown to help you get control of hot flashes, such as black cohosh. Oil from flax seeds and the mineral magnesium is also recommended. Magnesium is vital for menopausal women, not only to maintain bone density, but to also benefit the heart. Magnesium helps prevent many diseases and promotes calmness that can help you get a good nights sleep.

5. Watch your weight. Being too thin can cause women to suffer more intense hot flashes and other related symptoms related to estrogens. It is also important not to be overweight. The prime site of estrogen production during the postmenopausal stage is in body fat. Being overweight can open the risks for acquiring breast and uterine cancer.

6. Perform paced breating. Controlled, deep, slow rhythmic breathing practiced two times a day can help give you control of hot flashes. You will also find that paced breathing reduces anxiety, which is another common menopausal symptom.

7. Stop smoking. Besides increasing hot flashes, smoking can cause other serious health problems such as cancer, stroke, and heart diseases.

8. Think of hot flashes as power surges. Women are powerful as they experience those hot times in their lives and transition to the next stage. They can be simply a reminder that we are journeying on to the next life stage. The more you use these tips to get control of hot flashes, the less discomfort they will cause you.

What Is Acne?

December 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Control Perspiration
Steve Welker asked:

Acne is commonly known as pimples, it is a skin condition that commonly afflicts people during their teenage years. Acne pre-dominantly affects the face but can also show up on the back, neck, shoulders and chest. While most common in teenagers it can appear on adults as well. Neither race or gender is an indicator of acne as it affects male and female and all races equally.
The medical term for it is Acne Vulgaris. It can be diagnosed by the lesions that form on the skin. These lesions can take several different forms: blackheads, whiteheads and cysts. Cysts are formed when the pore becomes completely blocked. Acne is most common during puberty because at this time your body is creating an excess of sebum. Sebum is an oily substance designed to keep the hair and skin soft and lubricated. During puberty the production of sebum is greatly increased which can cause the skin to feel oily and clog pores.
During puberty there is also an increase in the production of follicle cells. Dead follicle cells mixed with sebum can build up and cause white heads. This mix of oil and dead cells is a perfect breeding ground for bacterial which will cause the swelling and redness associated with pimples.
Acne affects about 85% of all people sometime from the age of 12-24. Around 25% of these people will have acne on their back and/or neck as well as the face. The acne will be severe enough to cause about 40% of these people to seek medical treatment.
Acne is most common on the face, especially on the forehead, nose and chin. The back is the next most common area of affliction followed by the neck, chest and shoulders.
Most people will have outgrown their acne problems by the time they reach their twenty’s, but some people will continue to suffer from acne even as adults. In some cases people will not have any acne issues until they are adults, this happens more frequently in men than women.
Acne can have severe emotional and psychological repercussions. Since it affects their appearance it also affects their self image and self esteem. Teenagers are especially vulnerable to this attack on their self-confidence and can even trigger withdraw and depression, as well as feelings of anger and frustration.
Fortunately in this day and age there are many treatments that can help with acne. The foremost thing that can be done to help avoid or alleviate acne is to keep the skin as clean and oil free as possible. Washing the most common problem areas several times a day with soap and water, especially after any activity that triggers perspiration, is usually adequate. There are also many medications available by prescription and over the counter to help with acne control.
If the acne is severe enough you can consult a dermatologist, they can prescribe medications for the skin as well as antibiotics to help fight the bacteria. They can also offer advise on life style and diet changes that might help with the condition.

The circulation of air will help to decrease the sweat drastically. When you are out on hot summer days, wear light-colored clothes as these tend to reflect more sunlight back and help balance your body temperature.

Try to visit a gym so that you stay fit. Body fat is a factor that can block your body’s natural heat exchange. This is why people who are overweight tend to sweat much more than those who are in good shape. So get motivated to visit the gym and exercise regularly.

Doing yoga regularly is one of the highly recommended tips on how to stop sweating as sweating is also linked with stress so when you relax your mind and body through regular practice of yoga, you will be more in control of the mind - body balance and this will lessen your stress related sweating to a great extent.

Bathing regularly is very important but drying your whole body after a bath is even more important. How To Stop Sweating At Night

December 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Stop Sweating
Kurt Tompkins asked:

Sweating At Night is a very common problem for many people. Regardless of the reason, sweating at night is tied to one specific trigger.

I will try to address the general reason why people are sweating at night. This information is not tied to one specific cause for sweating but it is related to them all. For sweating at night can be explained in a logical manner that will allow you to eliminate this sleep depriving problem.

Sweating at night is simply due to our inability to cool itself down. As uncomplicated as that may sound, there is more to it than that clear-cut fact. We must understand how the body cools itself down before we can address the problem successfully.

Sweating at night is the very last action that the body takes in its effort to cool down. Anything past that stage becomes a health risk commonly known as heat exhaustion. Prior to sweating the body attempts to eliminate heat using three preferred methods. If the required coolness can not be obtained with the three main methods of cooling, the body has no choice but to sweat.

The three methods the body uses prior to sweating at night or sweating any time are the following in this order:

Radiation
Conduction
Convection

Radiation is when you radiate heat energy like an oven, or a light bulb, You can feel the heat without touching the source.

Conduction is the heat that you will feel when you touch the source of radiant heat. That heat that is transferred to your hand by conduction.

Convection is the heat that you can feel when hot air is blown upon you. Like the heat of a hair dryer. That is an extreme example of convection but simple to understand. The heat that is generated within the hair dryer is transferred to the air via convection. Thus the air is conveying the heat from the heat source inside of the dryer. The heat is moved from inside the hair dryer, out to your hair using air.

So what dose all this have to do with sweating at night? Lets remember that sweating is the very last phase of cooling that the body will go through prior to just shutting itself down. We are attempting to eliminate sweating at night. so to accomplish this we must realize that we must cool the body before we reach the sweating stage.

Radiation and condition are the two cooling methods that are normally used wile we are in bed. Your body radiates heat and your bed absorbs that radiation. You are laying in your bed, surrounded by material, that material is also absorbing your body heat.

Sweating at night happens because we reach a point in our bed where the bed is no longer able to absorb more heat. The next step the body takes to cool itself down is sweating.

But wait, you say, what about the third step in cooling, Convection?

You are absolutely right. How could we forget about convection? Remember the description of convection, where the air moves next to the source of heat and conveys that heat away. That is exactly what you will need to do. And a simple fan that will blow between your sheets will cool your body and your bed at the same time, using convection will help you will remain cool and your sweating at night will be over for good.
